Combined Endeavor 2008 has started
The 14th annual Combined Endeavor military exercise takes place from 1 May till 14 May 2008 at the main operating base at Lager Aulenbachhere, Germany and at its forward operating site at Lora Naval Base in Split, Croatia.
The main goal of this world’s largest communications exercise is to test the communications and information systems’ interoperability of the participant nations.
This year, the exercise is focusing on cross domain information sharing, looking for solutions to friendly-force identifier standards, exploring partnering opportunities with nongovernmental organizations, and demonstrating digital signature security practices.
Combined Endeavor 2008 exercise provides communications support for a military medical exercise MEDCEUR 2008, as participating nations work together concentrating on humanitarian aid / disaster relief issues. The MEDCEUR 2008 scenario is focused on the organization of rendering of medical aid in case of natural and man-made disasters, including technogenic accidents, terrorist attacks etc.
More than 1,000 personnel from almost 40 countries participate in the exercise.
Participating Partnership for Peace nations include Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, the Kyrgyz Republic, Macedonia, Moldova, Russia and the Ukraine.
Participating NATO nations include Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Non-aligned participants include Austria, Finland, Ireland, Sweden, and Switzerland.
