19th Meeting of Multinational Advisory Group (MAG)

The 19th Meeting of Multinational Advisory Group (MAG), the supreme decisional making body of Regional Arms Control Verification and Implementation Assistance Center (RACVIAC), took place in Chisinau, Moldova, on 9-11 April 2008.

All MAG Core- and Associate Members, as well as Observers, the representatives from EU, Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), OSCE, Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), South East Europe Clearinghouse for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SEESAC), Southeast Europe Defense Ministerial (SEDM), Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) and NATO were given an invitation to attend this meeting. The representatives from Belgium, Latvia and Switzerland were also invited as “Interested Countries”.

In October 2007, the Steering Body of RACVIAC - the Multinational Advisory Group (MAG), adopted the new strategy and decided that RACVIAC was ready to be transformed into the Centre for Security Cooperation.

At this meeting, in Chisinau, the same steering body proposed to bring the transformation of RACVIAC into Centre for Security Cooperation into its final phase.

The agenda of the MAG RACVIAC meeting included subjects related to:
• Preliminary Projection of the Core Budget for 2009;
• RACVIAC Programme for 2008 and the Main Activities Projection for 2009;
• New RACVIAC Structure, composition and staff policy;
• Status of MAG nations in accordance with the international norms and provisions.

Moldova took over the Chairmanship of the MAG RACVIAC on October 4th 2007.

The RACVIAC member states are: Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hellenic Republic, Hungary, Italy, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Republic of Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovenia, Serbia, Sweden, Turkey, and the UK.
