MEDCEUR 2007 — Bulboaca, Moldova
PIMS local representatives attended the Multinational Medical Training Exercise for Central and East Europe (MEDCEUR 2007) in Bulboaca, Moldova. The exercise began July 28 and continued through August 10 at the Bulboaca Military Training Center. Ms. Nadea Drucioc and Ms. Angela Malaniuc attended on behalf of PIMS and maintained a working group for the exercise within the PIMS members’ site. The working group gathered articles, photos, agenda, and power point presentations related to MEDCEUR, and offered these documents to be accessed within one consolidate location.
MEDCEUR is an “in the spirit of” Partnership for Peace exercise sponsored by the United States and hosted by the Republic of Moldova. More than 400 military doctors participated in the event and provided medical assistance to actors playing the role of earthquake victims. Participants attended from 13 NATO and Partner nations — Armenia, Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Croatia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine, and Moldova. The goal for MEDCEUR was to “establish a combined response to the measures that consolidates the humanitarian operations at the global level,” said LTC Ana Gutu, from the Moldova Ministry of Defense. “Every participant got the knowledge during the didactics part of the exercise, changed their experience during practical part and had the good time in our small and beautiful country,” she added
MEDCEUR was the second multinational exercise hosted by Moldova. Cooperative Lancer/Longbow was also held in Moldova in September 2006. The next MEDCEUR exercise for 2008 will be held in Croatia.
